In general, we will decide on size and subject matter first. Once that is decided, I will make a few digital sketches of the overall composition for your approval before we start the painting process. Afterwards, I will send in-progress photos for tweaks along the way. Here’s a few scenarios of how that would work:

  • Got an image in mind already? Send me a few reference photos and we can work together on re-creating it together in paint. I’ll send over a few thumbnail sketches and send you photos of the works-in-progress for any tweaks along the way.

  • Loved a previous painting of mine but it sold already or is not the right dimensions for your space? I don’t copy my previous work, but we can work together to create a new and unique one just for you based loosely on previous subject matter or a previous color scheme. I can’t wait to make something perfect and custom for you!

  • Got only just a vague idea of what you want? Perfect! We can set the size and color scheme first and then decide on the subject matter based on imagery that you are drawn to.

TIMELINE

  • Please allow at least 2-3 months from start to finish. In my experience, it takes at least a week to decide on the final composition, a few weeks for the painting process (as I do work a full-time job outside of art), and then another couple weeks for drying, varnishing, and shipping.

CURRENT PRICING (up to date as of 2021)

  • please note that I require 50% of the fee upfront before I start on the painting. The remaining 50% will be paid at completion of the painting.

Pricing for works on canvas or cradled hard board panel (includes hanging hardware, does not include frame or shipping):

  • 12”x16”: $225

  • 16”x16”: $250

  • 16”x20”: $325

  • 18”x24”: $450

  • 18”x36”: $650

  • 24”x36”: $850

  • please note: solid maple floater frames for smaller works (18”x24” and under) may be available on a limited basis for an extra fee. Please inquire at the beginning of the commission process if there is availability.
